Jialiang's First Bream On Fly
Catch Report 19/10/2006
With the talks of our recent boat acquisition got Jialiang pumped once and he wanted to have a lure session after his Wednesday assignment. Then on Thursday, seeing that the wind had kinda changed, I opted for Kogarah Bay and asked him if he wanted. Initially his girlfriend was supposed to go but end up pulling out and so took my vintage Honda Civic to Randwick and pick him up. He gave me a gift he bought while holidaying in Melbourne and it's a T-shirt with the words "SHUT UP AND FISH" bolded in front, how cool is that? Thanks brudder!
It was a less trafficky trip down to my surprise. We left late and I thought we were gonna get caught in the after work traffic but it was kinda smooth. Got down to the spot and saw some truckies emptying toilet bowls just where we were fishing! Yuck! But luckily there wasn't any smell so all's good. I started with SX40 first as usual at this spot and had 2 hits but no hookup. There was a lot of surface activity and we were very excited. Jialiang only had his fly gear and he proceeded flying there with ample backroom for his cast. But to our frustration, the luring wasn't easy. I had probably changed lures like many times but it was not what we would like it to turn out. Until one point Jialiang told me he was onto a small bream, he didn't even need to winch the bugger in but instead strip it back just like handline style, haha..
