What A Stuff-Up I Made!

Saturday was supposed to be our first time luring on Brooker ever since Chen bought a new electric motor for that purpose. Just before JM was supposed to go for a skiing trip, this was gonna be probably the last time he comes onboard. I called Rocky too seeing that he had finished his exams as well. With everything arranged, a bloody stuff up had to occur! The story goes like this. Just before moving off with Brooker, I'll always give a crank to see if the motor starts just in case. Then, the inevitable happened, the motor has no starter sound! No matter how I crank, or change battery, or tried to spin the spindle, it won't budge. Feeling shit, I picked up JM first to my joint while sms'ed Rocky to tell him my plight. JM came and basically we were mucking around unproductively. Seeing that Rocky didn't reply me and I worried he might already be waiting for us at the boat ramp, I called him and he was still sleeping! Champion man! Told him we were going to his playground and so me and JM left disheartened that we couldn't lure from boat.

Reached the same spot and it was quite windy. JM suggested going to the bridge first and so we started there first. He rigged up a squidgee wriggler in Red Rum colour? while I went with a 1/32 watermelon bm. KNNBCCB!!! Snagged it on the first cast! While re-rigging, JM scored! This fish gave him quite a curry seeing that he was fighting it to clear the 6lb vanish leader away from the rocks. We thought it could be his first lure-caught bream, but lo-n-behold, it's a Blackfish! What the?! A vegetarian eating lure again?! Well done lah bro..

The bridge was beginning to flow fast and so I opted to move down to my previous productive spot where I caught the 39cm recently. Whilst moving down, I snagged a brand new gulp grub on a trimmed berkley jighead I had, sianz... Got fed up and decided it's time to go hardbodying. Seeing that the sun was out and the water still a little discoloured, I went with the SX40 in shiny colour. About the 3rd or 4th casts, my turn to score! Not an interesting fight but this 30cm bream looks healthy, sort of looked like a black bream instead of a yellowfin one to me.

I told JM to try hardbody but he said if I catch another one, he'll change. Well, I confirm that for him. When I moved further down to the edge of the drain, another bream was landed but this time on another colour I thought of randomly putting on! Seemed like today's bream don't really mind any colours! A small 27cm bream.

Ok, he's pissed. Took out his brother's lure box and told me which one is good. I saw GTK's black colour SX40 and told him this one maybe your brother hasn't broke the virgin before. He whacked it on and had a missed strike. I told him don't worry, sure will come back. Damn true, he scored his first bream on hardbody lure in a matter of few casts.

What have I done?! Another breamer in the making?! (I stress.. not my fault) Then, it was hardbody all the way now. Soon, Rocky came and joined us. He was also using an SX40 lure! It does really seemed like this lure was the pick at that moment. On a particular far cast, all I could muster up was a few cranks and I felt a tap, stopped the lure and the next moment, I was on. I told the boys the bream are feeding further out. This one came in at 28.5cm.

There was a lima echo bravo father bringing his kids out for a stroll and was watching us. When I released the fish, as usual: "mate! why u do that? u don't know what u're missing mate.. that's a good eating fish mate..". I told him we don't eat fish and he says: "Oh come on.. that's bullshit mate".. What's wrong with these people? But I guessed some people comment on your deeds while there'll be others who condemned you, can't please everyone.

Then, the action totally gone. We moved over to the bridge once more and Rocky brought us to his actual spot there. It was too bloody windy and casting was difficult let alone trying to withstand the cold wind! However, master JM who out of battling all sorts of elements still could prevail with a small bream and this tailor on his brother's SX48.

Hmm.. this lure looked familiar, I remember saving this lure's ass together with Chen! haha.. By then, the tide was really low and we called it quits for a macca's feed and a trip down to Kyeemagh tackle shop for a look see.

Whilst fishing, Chen called me that he solved the boat problem. Apparently, due to my stuff up, I didn't notice that no boat motor can ever start if the gear is engaged, same theory as cars! Argh!!!!! How come I didn't thought about this diagnostic?! Well, Chen said that the gear stick was a little touch forward away from neutral. WTF?! I flushed the motor the last time and only did it in neutral, since then, I wouldn't have went and touch the gears! Who the fuck in St Michael did that? That college is getting worse and worse, dodgey people are in abundance now.
