This blog also dedicated to GTK, for he can't extend his stay in Sydney as he left one day before I hand in my thesis. As I have been deprived for a few weeks liao, decided to go for a quick one before the copy centre in my uni opens for the binding of thesis. Reached Five Dock Bay first light and it was bloody chilly! Before I left my room, the camera played up on me, the batteries were totally dead. I thought, "Aiyah, don't think today got fish one lah", so left without a camera...
As the water was pretty high at the time when I was there, I opted to use soft plastic first. 1st cast and when I took some time to release more slack line out, the lure was in there to let it sink. The moment I start turning the handle, immediately there was a weight. The fight was wet-sock and only a 26cm bream climbed on board. Damn, 1st cast already got fish, how good is that! As usual, one gulp one fish, diew! Changed to a pseed 2" powergrub and was a little quiet for awhile. By then, the sun was up. Came by to a tree and could feel some taps, then saw my line moved and I striked! Woohoo.. fish on. The fight was quite alright and up came a 28cm bream. Damn it, no fish right? So no camera just had to make do with my lousy sony handphone.

Anyway, this session might be a normal 20+cm jobs that I can managed, some more time is running out. The grub was raped by the toadies and so next up on the 1.5g size 4 jighead was a half-cut worm. Few casts later, felt a lot of taps on a particular spot. Quickly reel back to check if it was raped but still intact. I thought it might be whitings. True enough, on a particular twitch, I saw yet again, the line moved and it was fast! I striked and this one went berserk! Zzzzzz my kix suddenly woke me up in this cold morning. Not only once by a total of 4 good hardout runs. Thought at first it was a monster bream but on the surface I saw a longish shape and indeed, it was Mr Whiting. It went 38cm... MY Personal Best, yeehar!!!

Oh crap, now I really slapped myself for not making sure the batteries were charged the night before an outing. Bloody thing about whiting is that they never stay still for a photo shoot, so this bugger kept thrashing around and as there was some sand around, it got onto my kix! Fuck! Luckily the damage was not big but now I feel there might be some sand stuck somewhere, maybe I'm too paranoid. Anyway, the time was running out and after the worm got raped once more, I gave the bloodworm grub a go. Cast cast cast and suddenly also saw my line moved on a pause. Striked and there was some shaking.. I kept thinking what it was, maybe a flattie. But the swim was not of a flattie and yet it didn't run hardout except for once it did zzzzz for like 5 seconds. Strange feeling really. Soon, I managed to gain the line slowly and saw a bloody big bream! Luckily there was a step nearby and I went down to body lift it. 2nd attempt saw me with success and one old lady saw it and was shocked at the shear size of it in this bay. The bream was my FD-pb of 39cm.

Sadly, she had a blinded eye. The scene was gruesome. The eye was mushy and disgusting, like rotting away. It must have been blinded in the eye when hooked before. Poor thing. I quickly took a photo and let it swim away. Fuck, no camera to properly take this bream as it has been sometime since I have a big bream pic, diew! Anyway, tough luck, when u needed the camera the most it just won't cooperate and when u had it, there's no fish for u to take. Left the place on time to find myself in a traffic jam but alas, still managed to get back on time to do my binding and submitted my thesis, FINALLY!!!
What a top morning too!
SONG SONG GAU JURONG AH!!!
