No Proof For A Kick-Ass Lure

Sometimes I'm really pissed at my cheapo Sony camera that plays up on me with 'No Batt'. That's exactly what happened when you sometimes needed it most to showcase a good lure. Went down to Le Montage to lure last light condition which I haven't done much this season. Conditions were perfect with light winds and overcast sky. It was incoming tide on a practically low high-tide evening. Decided that this condition might suit lighter leader and so opted for the Nitlon DARM 5lb fluoro. Upon reaching there, there were leaves everywhere on the concrete bank. I was like virtually bushwalking. Anyway, tied on the worm 1st and casted. Was giving a little time for the worm to sink and after mucking around with the braid on my bail guide, I slowly lifted the rod and voila, a small flattie was already at the end. 1st cast hookup always indicates a likely hot session. As usual, the flattie will thrash around when up on the surface. Luckily the worm was still ok and I continued with it and on the 3rd or 4th cast, another smaller flattie crashed onto the worm and almost shot itself out onto the bank! I couldn't see the worm anymore and quickly despatched the flattie away.

Next up was a used Mojo grub. Caught a flattie too before it was ravaged by a toad right in front of me! Farkers!! Switched to a used bloodworm grub and it too got a just legal flattie. Same thing happened later when those 'bane-of-the-sps' will make short-work on the tails. Time for hardbodying. Feeling confident about the ANRE's Rapid 45DSP, I gave it another go. 1st cast and an almost legal flattie whacked the lure hard-on. That's the thrill to get the most out of flattie-fishing when using hardbodies. As usual, they will thrash around near the surface and a very very risky business to steer their head away from the leader. Wanted to take a headshot photo but alas, camera just don't want to co-operate. Never mind, maybe after awhile it'll be back-on power. Few casts later with the rapid, there was another good take. This flattie was fun, running my not-so 'steve starling pussy drag' for a few times. No breams never mind, this bugger makes up for it. The 6th flattie measured 40cm and again, the camera still didn't wanna co-operate! No choice loh.. quickly continued before the sky darkens. Moving nearer to the footbridge, the rapid had a sudden zzzzz take and gone in 2 seconds. Shit, that must have been a good bream. Scold some obsenities and continued. It was by then very dark and on a parallel cast, I felt a heavy weight and thought it might be a tree brunch. Suddenly the rod shakes and definitely not a snag! Knew straightaway it must have been a big flattie and started cranking in, only to throw hook at mid-retrieve! Sigh.. destined not to land the bigguns and since the camera plays up, I gave up and headed off. This ANRE's lure might just be in my Hall-of-Fame collection.

Went to Eastgardens to see if I can grab a copy of the 2007 Tournament Anglers Guide. Couldn't get it in Broadway so just thought maybe the newsagency there has it. Indeed it was and also ended up buying some stuffs from BigW. Brought it home and suddenly the camera wants to co-operate! Diew-na-seng!

See those articles how the pros catch fish so easy, makes me think 'really a-not'? Maybe my thinking is very Singaporean, "got fish means got fish, no fish means no fish".
