'Bleaming' JM Has Left The Building!
Yup, my temporary kaki in Sydney is leaving. He had certainly live up to his brother's legacy of scoring fish on virgin trips. JM sms'ed me for another last session seeing that we went on a scoreless boating lure trip on the Georges River on Monday including Rocky as well. It was Rocky's first time onboard Brooker. But it was a dead as stone trip. JM had wanted a boat trip as his last but I was reluctant due to bloody commitments for my journal and thesis shit mood. So, I suggested a lure trip instead, sorry bro! Messaged Rocky that we're going to the Cooks again and he was keen too since he's leaving on the same day as JM back to sticky-hot Singapura. Arrived on a beautiful late morning and the water was quite smooth with little breeze. However, the water was still quite low but nonetheless, it was still fishable. Rocky was 1st on spot and he was already actively working the drain. We rigged up and I was using hardbody lure at first. Tried the BassDay Sugar Deep to no avail. The tide was fast becoming to the highest point and it was quite disappointing not to get amongst any fish at that period around the drain. So a call was made to head down to the bridge.
Me and Rocky was working just outside the bridge while JM was hammering under the bridge. It didn't take too long till we had a double hookup! Rocky was battling this beast and the sweet sound from his Certate gave me some entertainment while he was pulling in the fish. It was a good fight and very impressive runs from this 37cm bream.
He told me loudly how this fish had made his day by breaking the drought he had been facing. Well done blo, you the man! While I only managed this tiny puny bream on my SX48 which surprisingly took it right under my feet!
Well, certainly not to be outdone, JM managed to get his first bream on sp! He told me "no guts no glory" as he was playing around those snaggy areas under the bridge. Definitely damn rewarding since those are really prime hiding areas for bream and to top it off, not an easy task to steer fish away from those oyster encrusted rocks!
Not bad for a first fish coming in at 28cm. Now, that's what I call a 'Bleaming JM'! Plus he caught it on a bloodworm squidgee he bought from Kmart! 'Berkley man' sucks big time right, bro? Soon, JM came and join us at the rocks area after it got a little quiet under the bridge. Seemed like hot bite session now as the tide begins to move. Then, 'Bleaming JM' striked jackpot again, this time with a better specimen! At least this fish pulled some line to his delight.
JM: "si bei tua, chut sua one!" (wah lao eh, kan fierce man!)
Now, am I seeing an Asian Breamer in the making? Sigh.. too bad he's going back to terrorise the local Peacock Bass population instead of Sydney breams. Just when we were still fishing the hot bite period, I had a take on my 1gram modded jighead with a 2inch gulp grub. Then suddenly, all hell's breaks loose! Right in the witness of my two kakis, this thing went zzzzz for a good 3-4secs and I didn't even had a chance to wind the bugger went to a snag?! At first I thought maybe it was a snag initially but the boys said how can a snag move 3-4secs without me moving my rod at all?! True, ok, it must have been a fish. I move up from the rocks area and attempted to free spool my line. Just as I was trying to flick my rod, I felt a little shake and the line went limp! Argh!!! I have been smoked to be precise! My first time getting smoked by a fish in my entire luring career! Damn sad, I was totally inconsolable..
It was getting damn windy and we moved back to the drain. In the process, snagged 3 rigs and almost stuck my Megabass and ZipBaits HB as well. It was a shitty outing to me for sure but nonetheless, the experience to be smoke by a fish as well as the companion of kakis makes my stress feel like nothing. Thanks for the company, JM. I will fish with the Tam brothers in the future for sure.
