3 Consecutive Night Ops
Yes, that just shows how 'NO LIFE' Ronald is in Sydney, Australia. But my fisho friends says: "u crazy ah?!, this kind of life we all want leh!" Ok, I 'diam diam', while secretly planning my ops in my mind. On wednesday, Rocky has been dying to get out and fish because of his reports and projects is killing him mentally. I told him later then get back to him since I was gonna have dinner with my bb bro, phil. Once I got back, I called Rocky, he was already at his playground. So he came and pick me up, and we headed to Justin's/GTK's mulloway spot in the hope to 'destroy' (chwee) it, muahahahaha...
Rocky quickly rigged up and soon got a flattie in quick time! He got it on a 3" Gulp minnow. Well done blo.
Thanks to Rock for taking some of the pics, even one with his feet as comparison! A bit letdown for this bream not giving me much entertainment, sianz... We continued for a little while before Rocky had to leave as not to upset his gf.
As I've noticed some surface activity the night I fished with Rock and since the tide for the week was a massive 1.9+ meters, I asked Chen to go for a session the next night (yes, no life, I know). Got there and the conditions were like the night before. Not much wind and glassy surface. One good thing about luring at night is the puffer toads must be blind, because the while time I used my Gulps, it was not raped at all! So I continued my previous night's grub which had already caught the big bream and other 2 fishes. Got the usual flatties before I found it was becoming mushy and not staying on the jig properly, cheapskate hor?! Anyway, we got to my trevally spot (GTK, where is my trevally photo from your digi cam huh??) and Chen was casting whole camo worm. Suddenly he hooked up and the fish jumped and explode the surface! We both got shocked and I came over to see what he had caught. At first I called for a big tailor since there was a jump. But the runs were long and his tierra was singing hardout. However, his drag was loose and I regrettably asked him to tighten it a bit. He did this when the fish was on the side bank and suddenly he lose it! KNNBCCB! We reckon he got busted off on the oyster barnacles, diew! Chen felt gutted and I also feel I made him lose the fish. Then, we went over to 'productive' area and I stuck on to my 'little window' 1st. Saw lots of surface activity and felt that the breams were feeding. Cast few times at my window and on a parallel cast, felt a take and strike. This thing went zzzzz and woke Chen over to the window. After the zzz'ing, a splash was heard and we knew this thing jumped also! It fought pretty well and I truly enjoyed a few good hardout runs and as my expectation proves correct, it was indeed a bream going at 36cm yet again!
Thanks to bro Chen for taking my pics and also assisting me in landing this bugger from a very tight window. We continued for awhile more and I also got this 32cm which only ran once at GTK's slopy slope.
The tide was still super high on Friday night, and with my hand trembling with itch, I needed to go for another try just to see if the surface activities will still be there. So, ops order came and the time was right to set out for another assault. It was pretty quiet for the 1st half hour or so at the usual starting point with the occasional flatties. Then at my trev spot, I registered a huge take and the kix only zzz for a split sec. Sianz.. felt like I missed a biggie as it was pretty far out when I had that take. With much time wasted on those spots, I made some hasty casts at slopy slope before heading back to my 'little window' yet again. From here, I saw more surface activities and it was bustling! Cast out my Gulp grub and do some twitching good times. Then all hell breaks loose when kix just zzzzz followed by a bigger splash within a foot away from me! What a magnificent sight to see a flying bream in front of me. This fight is my most memorable bream fight to date. It ran for 5-6 times and with little room to manouvre around this small window, landing this bugger in pitch black condition is not going to be easy. But I soon improvised and learned a new thing about landing biggies from inaccessible banks. To cut long story short, this 41cm grand-daddy obliged for a successful lip grip.
Too bad it did not break my personal best of 42, which ironically happened to be at the same spot, my 'little window'. Continued for awhile more and got this 31cm which really made this a very special night to remember for a nong nong time.. hehe
