2 Days Of Hardout Boating

Sat and Sun saw me and Chen totally went berserk on the fishing front. Well, Chen deserves these 2 days of hardout boating, as working full time definitely sucks big time. On sat morning, Jeff was joining us. An unfortunate event happened when he lifted the esky to the boat, he hurt his back. He was in pretty bad shape. We had to apply plaster and gave him anti-inflammatory pill. At some point his pain was so excruciating we had contemplate to bring him to the hospital but he insisted not. Both me and Chen felt kinda bad and left him to rest while we proceeded a late launch and worried about his condition at the same time. Anyway, got to tunks and launched with practically no one else there. 1st time we used the navigational lights and the anchor light works great too. I had thought about getting some live baits and told Chen we should try Balmoral. Just as when we're about there, I shined my torch and saw some panic-stricken garfish and we stopped immediately. Proceeded to berley and using the LJ rig, got onto some super small yellowtails. I told Chen we might be in for some good action. Got about 13 of them and as soon as the sun rises, we shot off to the wedding cake.

Chucked one lightly weighted and another for the bottom. Chen went for cubing while I tried to see if there's any Leatherjackets around. Well, only hoisted really small Chinamen while Chen got the obligatory breams. By then, we were feeling really buggered and told Chen let's try a new spot. Went to the Quarantine marker and there were a few boats there. That place was very deep, and anchoring was tricky but still managed to do it. Chucked the live baits and sat back. As it was too choppy, both of us kinda felt a little sea-sick. We were both craving for maccas breakie and so we gave up and left quite early for a fishless saturday.

Chen woked me up on sunday morning and off we 2 crazy cunts took Brooker out again. Did the same ol' and we motored to Balmoral for the live baits. They were still there and we got 7 in quick time. Shot off to wedding cake 1st and there were few boats there already! Anyway, did the same ol' and Chen and me cubed. At one point, Chen had a huge run and that instantly woke him up! But it pulled hook on him, DAMN! I pulled in my bottom yakka and to our surprise, it had a gruesome ending. The whole body was gone and only left the skeletal remains of its head! WTF, anyway, sacrificed another one and the waiting game begins. Nothing happened for an hour being there, so we shot off to another spot we never tried before, as Chen needs to meet Jenny early.

Got to Clifton's outer white can and to my surprise, the water depth was quite similar to the cake as I would know from anchoring. Anyway, the current and wind kept flipping us around and we were kinda near to the drum. Casted diagonally away from the drum and we were absolutely hammered by the breams there. They kept climbing on board and to our amazement, the smallest was 28cm while the biggest was 32cm. Most were in the 30s and they were great fun. We lost count of the quantity for sure. Then the powerhouse begun. Finally my 1st trevally of the season, a 37cm and it was a good highlight for the day. The headshakes, the blistering run and the oohs.. and the ahhs..

Then, the best highlight of the day unfold on my el cheapo BigW outfit. This particular run was so characteristic of a king that we thought it might be a rat. But all it managed was that turbocharged run and that was it. Nope, not a king, it was a frigate mackeral! Sweet, my 2nd one for the season. The yakkas were again untouched to our dismay. It was time to pack up and we left early yet again. While bleeding the frigate in Brooker, it made a murder scene! Haha..

Got back to HQ and started cleaning up and preparing the Frigate sashimi for the mob's night gathering of beer and fresh fish. Only kept 2 breams being the biggest of all.

Luckily Sunday saves the weekend for us.

Ronald
